Eye Care Should Be Accessible
Health insurance can make taking care of your eyes much more convenient and easier on the wallet. We can submit any insurance claims on your behalf and accept payment from your insurance company to take any additional stress off of your shoulders. At Trendz Optical, we aim to make your path to good ocular health and vision as painless as possible, and that includes fees and payment!
When you visit us for an appointment, we ask that you bring up-to-date insurance information with you so we can have it on file. If anything changes, feel free to give us a call or bring updated information with you to your next appointment.

Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP)
If you’re a resident of Alberta, you will be covered for some eye health services under AHCIP. AHCIP covers the cost of 1 major eye exam, one partial exam, and one diagnostic procedure every 12 months if you are under the age of 18 or over the age of 65.
If you are between the ages of 19 and 65 and have a specific medical condition requiring regular monitoring by your optometrist, AHCIP will cover 1 annual major eye exam and any related follow-up exams. Covered conditions include:
- Diabetes mellitus
- Glaucoma
- Cataract
- Retinal disease
- Amblyopia
- Visual field defects
- Corneal disease
- Strabismus
- Recurrent uveitis
- Optic pathway disease
Seniors with low to moderate incomes may be eligible for some benefits under the Dental and Optical Assistance for Seniors Program. Also, if your general practitioner refers you for a specific reason, AHCIP may cover your eye exam. If you’re wondering about AHCIP and whether you’re covered, please visit their website.
